SOUTHBRIDGE STRONG!

February 3, 2026

The SNAP Executive Committee recently held a working session to strengthen coordination, clarify leadership roles, and improve communication across Southbridge community initiatives.

A key focus of the meeting was defining the roles between the SNAP Executive Committee, the Southbridge Community Development Corporation (SBCDC), and the Civic Association. SBCDC will continue serving as the backbone organization, providing operational coordination and implementation support while community engagement remains a core part of all initiatives.

To simplify collaboration and improve efficiency, the committee agreed to restructure the existing committee system into four focused working groups:

  • Improved Mobility

  • Resilience & Climate Change / Better Health

  • Affordable Living & Economic Revitalization

  • Youth & Education

Community engagement will be integrated into all working groups to ensure residents remain involved in the planning and progress of neighborhood initiatives.

The committee also confirmed a regular meeting schedule for working groups and community oversight meetings to ensure updates are consistently shared with residents and stakeholders.

Another key update is the commitment to strengthen community communication. Southbridge Connects will serve as the primary platform for updates, including website posts, newsletters, social media updates, and SMS messaging. Moving forward, communications will transition from quarterly updates to a monthly cadence to keep residents better informed and engaged.

The group also discussed the ongoing Civic Association leadership transition. During this interim period, gatherings will continue as Community Meetings, while an oversight group works to review bylaws, clarify responsibilities, and develop a plan to support the future structure of the Civic Association.
